Rough Diamond

I create guitar songs in the same way I’d often write music with a band. I work out a few chord patterns and melody, then jam it out with colleagues, with lyrics added soon after. With soloist material, I instead build up extra layers of guitars, bass and often a keyboard.

For the Rough Diamond recordings I was initially inspired by Bill Orcutt’s soloist guitar work. I deliberately kept the recordings raw and glitchy, which reflects my improvised style. The musical structure is roughly worked out, then improvised for a naturalistic feel.
